Who We Are
Our prayer is that we would become a…
multi-generational
{where every generation matters and has a gift to share},
multi-cultural
{where every culture within a race has a place},
multi-ethnic
{where every race is reconciled to God and to each other}
gospel community
{where the gospel is the foundation and purpose of our fellowship and relationships with one another and the world}
of discipling theologians
{who know how to disciple others and think rightly about God}
who love God
{the Father, the Son and the Spirit}
with their mind, body and affections
{their thinking, acting and feelings}
and are passionate about
{this is the burning desire of their souls}
enjoying and displaying
{they relish and reflect}
God’s glory
{His excellency and character}
so that His Name
{Jesus Christ, to whom every knee will bow and confess}
will be exalted and cherished
{magnified and savored}
among the nations
{all people groups locally and globally}.
Our mission…
is to glorify God by making disciple-making disciples. By God’s grace we will accomplish this as we each fulfill these 4 core building blocks of discipleship, which are designed to help people find their way in the church and not get lost…
Love God.
We understand that to love God with all of one’s heart, soul, mind, and strength {Deuteronomy 6:5; Mark 12:30} consists in more than just affections and feelings, although we value these as an extremely important aspect of what it means to follow Jesus as a disciple. Loving God also means that we will endeavor by the Holy Spirit’s power to be obedient to all of His commandments {Romans 8:13; 1st John 2:3-6}.
Orient Yourself.
We value community at CBC. Our prayer is that each member will strive to orient themselves to others by joining a community group, actively engage in fellowship, participate in weekly worship gatherings, share their lives, etc, recognizing that we have been called together in one body {Colossians 3:15; Hebrews 10:24-25}.
Serve Others.
We believe that God has gifted people with various gifts {time, talent, treasures} that should be employed for the benefit of others {1st Corinthians 12} and for the glory of God {1st Peter 4:10-11}.
Tell Everyone.
We recognize that the local church is the primary vehicle through which God displays His glory and wisdom, both to the world and spiritual forces {Ephesians 3:7-10}. Therefore, we will endeavor to speak of the great Triune God and the gospel through public testimonies {Psalm 40:9}, the preaching of His Word {2nd Timothy 4:1-5}, and the way we live {1st Corinthians 10:31}.
